OUR GOSPEL PARTNERSHIPS

SOVEREIGN GRACE CHURCHES

We are partnered in gospel mission with Sovereign Grace Churches (SGC). SGC is made up of a family of churches who’ve partnered together in like-minded belief and unified mission of advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ. In fulfilling this mission, churches that are partnered together in SGC passionately seek to encourage and equip one another for the work of mission. This may mean sharing resources, joining together in gospel work locally and globally, gathering together in disciple maturing events both regionally and nationally, equipping one another for church planting, building partnerships among pastors for encouragement and accountability, training pastors at the SGC Pastors College, and publishes booksmusic, and other resources – all to the glory of God and the expansion and care of His church!

Sovereign Grace affiliated churches can best be described as evangelical, Reformed, and charismatic (read more).  At this time, Sovereign Grace Churches consists of about 90 churches. Most of them are in the U.S., with some in Canada, Mexico, Bolivia, western Europe, eastern Africa, eastern Asia, and Australia. In all, Sovereign Grace Churches is partnered to varying degrees with pastors and church-planting networks in 21 countries.

SOVEREIGN GRACE MUSIC

The mission of Sovereign Grace Music is to produce Christ-exalting songs and training for local churches from local churches. People from different Sovereign Grace Churches use their gifts of writing, composing, singing, or musicianship to form Sovereign Grace Music. We call it Sound+Doctrine. We’ve been doing it for 30 years now, primarily to serve our family of churches. We’re happy that our songs are reaching a broader audience, and want to join the many others who are encouraging biblically informed, heartfelt, Spirit-empowered singing in the church. Like Charles Wesley, we wish we had “a thousand tongues to sing our great Redeemer’s praise.” We pray the songs we write will produce the same desire in you, your family, and your church, for the never ending glory of God.

SOVEREIGN GRACE PASTORS COLLEGE

The Sovereign Grace Pastors College is in Louisville Kentucky. The curriculum is rigorous, but necessarily so, because the very foundation of pastoral ministry is the abiding truth of God’s Word. Pastors must be skilled in the teaching and application of Scripture, faithfully bringing it to bear upon their lives and the churches they serve. Without the faithful wielding of God’s Word, there will ultimately be no faithful or effective pastoral ministry. Instructors have included D.A Carson, Sam Storms, Douglas Moo, Steven Nichols, Michael Haykin, Stephen Wellum, John Woodbridge, James Anderson, Iain Duguid, Mike Bullmore, Ray Van Neste, Bob Kauflin, and many more faithful pastors and scholars.

Since pastors are called to be examples to the people they serve, the SGC Pastors College is also designed to cultivate godly character. There are weekly fellowship groups where they care for, encourage, and pray for each other. Wives receive specialized training to serve alongside their husbands. Couples spend the year in varied and intentional contexts to help them grow as disciples, as married couples, and as parents. Finally, they experience all of this with an intimate connection to the local church at Sovereign Grace Church of Louisville—which is of critical importance. Their training takes specific account of the local church precisely because students are being equipped to serve in a local church context.

9MARKS

9Marks helps pastors, future pastors, and church members to see what a biblical church looks like, and to take practical steps for becoming one. They equip churches to be characterized by nine biblical marks of a healthy church – expositional preaching, biblical theology, the gospel, understanding conversion, evangelism, church membership, church discipline, discipleship, and growth in biblical leadership. Mission City Fellowship affirms these 9 marks of a healthy church and has committed to this as a part of our regular life together.
